Stephen Birthday Weekend

Stephen celebrated his 28th birthday last Monday!
Jason and Chelsea came over for the weekend and we did some hiking and bbqing. For our hiking trip we went to Moraine Lake which is only 3.5 miles roundtrip, but the trip there was all up hill. It is on your way up to the South Sister and it was gorgeous. It was a great hike and we all had a lot of fun. The dogs also loved it. On Stephen's actual birthday, Jason took him golfing to a course in Redmond.

Deschutes River Rafting Trip

Well it has been a very busy summer and I can't believe it is almost over! Towards the end of July we went on a 3 day rafting trip with my family and some family friends. It was a great trip and thankfully no one fell out. I think the whole trip on the river was about 56 miles. Here are some pictures . . .

Green Lake Hike

This past weekend we decided that we would go on a hike to Green Lake. Round trip it was 9 miles long and it was beautiful. The majority of it was along a river with several waterfalls and we were on the backside of South Sister and Broken Top. The scenery was amazing! The only problem was the massive amount of mosquitoes. My boss had warned me about them and told me to get bug spray and I chose not to really listen and in the end both Stephen and I paid for it.

Doggies

So while everyone else posts information about their kids, we post about our dogs. Shelby is about 9 weeks old now and has grown so much in the few weeks that we have had her. We still are really curious what she will look like when she is older. Here are some pictures over the last three weeks.

This is over Memorial weekend. She was always cold in the morning and at night. Thankfully my Grandma had a little jacket for her.

This was from this past weekend at Stephen's parents house. She got into a flower pot . . .

This was on our way back to Bend. They had a long weekend.

New Puppy

We have been wanting to get another dog for quite a while now because Hurley was in dire need of a friend. This past week we found a posting on Craigslist for nine FREE puppies out in Burns and we made the call. We didn't exactly realize that Burns is a 2.5 hour drive from us out in the middle of nowhere. It was all worth it in the end because she is absolutely adorable. We named her Shelby. She is 6 weeks old and is a Pit Bull/Husky mix and you can really see the Husky in the markings on her face. Hurley is in heaven to finally have a little sister. I tried taking better pictures but she just doesn't want to stay still.

Hiking at Smith Rock

Last weekend we bought the book "100 Hikes in the Central Oregon Cascades" and figured this weekend would be a great time to do one of them because the weather was suppose to be good. We chose Smith Rock because it was only a 30 minute drive from us and is only a 4 mile hike.

Monkey face . . . Stephen was really excited about this!

We also thought Hurley would just love this and the day started out this way, but proved differently in the end. The first trail we took was Misery trail and it was steep and rocky with many switchbacks. Hurley started out panting like crazy and then began to stop every so often just so he could lay down.

This is at the top of the Misery Trail.

Hurley got blisters on all of his paws and decided he wouldn't go any further.

This meant we had to take turns carring him down the trail. I only did it for 30 feet . . .
Stephen on the other hand carried him for over a mile. First over his shoulder and then in the backpack.

As you can see, Hurley didn't seem to mind that much.

A few of his blisters had popped, so we bandaged him up.

New Job!!!

I finally got a job about five weeks ago at the FivePine Lodge and Conference Center in Sisters as the Guest Experience Manager. I absolutely love the job and the people are great. It is definitely a place that everyone should come and experience because the cabins are absolutely beautiful. I can also hook you up with a discount! :) Here are some pictures . . .

Last Two Months in a Nutshell

Wow! So we are incredibly bad at this whole blogging thing. You would think since I don't have a job right now I would be blogging a lot, but hopefully it will get better. . . At least we will try.

Well going back to January we had some friends come over and we stayed at a house in Sunriver. The first night we stayed up until 3 or 4 in the morning playing drinking games and needless to say, the next day was a slow one. The first night was really fun though!

I don't really know why these pictures are so small . . . maybe because I stole them from Laura's myspace page.

The next weekend we celebrated my birthday in Corvallis. It is always crazing going back home now because we have such a short amount of time to see everyone and we are so busy. On my actual birthday we watched a couple of football games and played caps. Always a good time.

For the past few months now we have also been trying to get in shape. We first started out running a few times a week, but now we are doing cardio and working out at the gym at COCC. The gym isn't the best, but it's free for us, so it works out just fine. And on our off days we take Hurley for long walks. There is a really nice three mile trail along the Deschutes river that we go on and its nice because we can take him off his leash.

This was taken at the top of Pilot Butte.

Other than that, not much else has been going on in our lives. My brother has visited us a few times and we have been back to Corvallis one other time to help my family with a basketball tournament in Philomath.

We promise to try and be better with our posts. Maybe go for once a month posts! :)
